Structural design
We build from our experience to develop buildable, cost-effective and lean structural engineering solutions for projects across all sectors. From pre-planning to construction, we work closely with Architects, Contractors, and Clients to deliver safe, efficient, and elegant structures, tailored to the needs of each project. We place creativity and innovation at the forefront and believe in true collaboration, to achieve a seamless integration of the structural aspect with the aesthetic and functional goals.
Structural audits
Design Box's team will carry out detailed structural audits to assess the condition, safety, and performance of existing buildings. Whether you're planning a refurbishment, dealing with suspected defects, or require an expert opinion as part of a due diligence, our audits provide clear, actionable insight.
We combine on-site inspection with engineering judgement to develop maintenance plans, inspection specifications and repair plans.
BIM
We integrate Building Information Modelling (BIM) into our structural design process to improve coordination, accuracy, and transparency across all stages of a project. Working in 3D from the outset allows us to detect clashes early, streamline collaboration with architects and consultants, and deliver clearer, more reliable information to contractors and clients. Our team has experience working in various BIM environments. We regularly share our progress via a dedicated landing page, aligned with project standards and supporting smooth handover to other disciplines.
Third-party checks
As Chartered Engineers (IStructE), we provide independent design audits, third-party checks (CAT 3), and peer reviews to support quality assurance and regulatory compliance. We apply our technical expertise and sound engineering judgement to review structural designs with rigour and clarity. Our reports are practical, unbiased, and focused on helping project teams improve safety, buildability, and overall design quality.
Monitoring role
We can act as technical advisors, offering independent oversight and guidance throughout the design and construction process. We are experienced with the Client Monitoring Team (CMT) role, where we provide an additional layer of technical assurance alongside the appointed design team. Our involvement helps clients anticipate key technical decisions, manage risk, and improve quality control and compliance with the Employer's Requirements and the client's goals.
Civil & Ground Engineering
We extend our core structural services through a network of specialist consultants, enabling us to offer civil and geo-environmental engineering as part of an integrated solution. We draw from our project management experience and working within complex multidisciplinary teams to coordinate seamlessly with these specialisms.
